At Cesario & Co, we pride ourselves on the elevated level of the brands in which we carry. This month we wanted to share the story behind one of our favourite vendors: Native Trails.

Naomi Neilson founded Native Trails in 1996. Known famously for their copper sinks, Naomi aimed to make copper sinks a cornerstone piece for any kitchen or bathroom through “combining age-old traditions with contemporary design and sustainable materials.” Her passion for “artisan tradition, sustainability, and fair trade practices [brought] the work of undiscovered artisans from central Mexico first to central California and then on to living spaces throughout North America.”

“Hooray! Thanks to you guys, our newest NativeStone bathtub, Mendocino, has won a 2020 @architizer Popular Choice Award! How would you like to take a swim in one of our luxe eco-friendly concrete tubs?” / Source: Instagram

According to Native Trails, “Naomi and her team continue to find new trails to be forged, researching new offerings and traveling throughout the world, searching out undiscovered artisans who can bring life to Native Trails’ innovative designs.” In addition to their signature copper sinks, Native Trails has expanded their product lines and “grown to include groundbreaking NativeStone® concrete sinks, vanities made of reclaimed wood, bathtubs, furniture, a range of home decor products, and now spun-glass Italian sinks.”

Shortly after the release of their copper basin, it grew to become Native Trails’ signature piece. In fact, Native Trails was the first company to have their “copper sinks certified by the UPC listed by IAPMO, where it assisted in writing the copper basin standards.” In 2005, Naomi was named the Manufacturing Professional of the Year by the Decorative Plumbing & Hardware Association (DPHA). Skip forward to 2019 and Native Trails became a Certified B Corporation where they are “proud to join others in using business as a force for good.” Now today, “Native Trails leads the industry in artisan crafted, eco-conscious furnishings and fixtures for high end kitchen and bath design, and is featured in premier showrooms throughout the United States and Canada.”
