5 Kitchen Sink Styles You Should Try

Kitchens are known as the heart of the home which is why the team at Cesario & Co takes a lot of care into perfecting the finer details, like finding the perfect kitchen sink.

When it comes to picking the perfect sink, there is a mesmerizing variety of choices available in the market, which can make it difficult to choose the right one. When selecting your perfect sink, there are many factors to consider, such as the material, maintenance required for that specific material, the functionality, the location, and the dimensions ideal for that location.

The Cesario & Co showroom in Mississauga, carries many amazing sink brands and we’re here to share some of our favourite sink styles, along with their features and benefits.

1. SmartStation

Form, Function and Finesse - that is the idea of the SmartStation. It’s an all-in-one sink equipped with everything you may need in that area of your kitchen. The SmartStation reinvents itself, by offering thoughtfully combined sink and accessory sets to assist you with anything you need.

The interior of the SmartStation has ledges for the accessories to sit on at adjustable heights. The accessories include a cutting board which sits across from a serving bin with bowls that each have silicone tops, which are meant to keep your ingredients fresh. The bowls are also dishwasher-friendly. Under the bowls is a tray that you can use for a variety of things such as storing more ingredients or serving appetizers.

The sink also comes with a highly versatile drying rack which you can use to rest hot pots or leave your dishes on to dry. In addition, it comes with a colander which fits right onto the sink with the serving board. Finally, there’s a grid at the bottom which is meant to protect your sink from scratches caused by cutlery. In addition, you can customize the sink sizes and choose what kind of edges you want for the sinks, whether they are sharp angles or rounded.

In 2021, having one large sink with multiple beneficial accessories is growing in popularity in comparison to double bowls. In addition to looking elegant and modern, it’s also highly practical and an efficient use of space. All in all, the SmartStation is a great choice if those are qualities you value in your house.

2. Granite Kitchen Sinks

Granite is one of the world's hardest textured materials. They also make for very durable sinks as they are scratch and chemical resistant, easy to maintain, colour proof, and impact resistance. The material is also stain resistant due to its liquid repelling nature.

3. Farmhouse Kitchen Sinks

The next sink style we want to feature is one of our favourites: the Farmhouse sink. It features a deep basin and an exposed front that sits flush with your cabinets and countertops. With a touch of country charm, this sink offers a variety of benefits including functionality and design, which makes it a fantastic choice for many kitchens!

The Farmhouse sink has been used for centuries, but has made a comeback in the last few years. They come in a wide array of different materials and colours that clients can choose from. One of our favourites is this traditional single-basin apron front sink. This concrete kitchen sink is as suitable in a modern setting, as it is in a country one. Not to mention, it is also durable as well as stain and crack resistant. This sink is available at the Cesario & Co Showroom, along with many more styles and colours.

One of the questions we receive is, “what is the difference between a Farmhouse and Apron sink?” Simply put: nothing! Both a Farmhouse and Apron sink have a large front surface that is visible on an installed sink, and this is known as the "apron." The only real difference between the two are their names. The name "Farmhouse" sink came from the fact that this type of sink was used in farmhouses in the past. The name "Apron" sink is a modernized name.

4. Copper and Nickel Kitchen Sinks

Copper and Nickel sinks are absolutely beautiful options for kitchen sinks. They have a timeless aesthetic and really stand out wherever they’re located. Depending on the finish, they have an age-old artisan look, which really adds character to distinctive spaces. If you love rustic themes, then you’ll be happy to know that copper develops a unique patina over time, giving it a lot of character! Copper sinks usually have a hammered appearance, which also adds to their unique look.

And best of all: they are rust resistant, meaning these sink materials can last generations. Copper in particular is also naturally antibacterial, making it a very hygienic option. 5. Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is by far the most frequently used for kitchen sinks. What makes stainless steel so special? It's durable and naturally hygienic. Stainless steel is a natural choice for many commercial applications, including restaurants.

Some of the benefits of stainless steel sinks include the fact that they are corrosion-proof, made with premium quality nickel, and resistant to staining and rust. They are pore-free, also known as naturally hygienic, therefore don't harbour bacteria. Stainless steel sinks are also self-regenerating, meaning the surface develops a passive protective layer that continually renews, so your sink is easy to clean and care for. Stainless steel sinks are also temperature and acid resistant. Last but not least, they are environmentally-friendly and 100% recyclable.
